What’s even more impressive than Josh Tillman’s year-end topping album I Love You Honeybear? His jokes.

But actually, one of the most admirable features about Father John Misty I’ve found at times is his sense of humor. He’s not the conventional relatable type, but a sarcastic, judgmental and misanthropic kind, who still manages to be utterly charming. He’s one of the few musicians I can think of that would be just as interesting to listen to speak than to perform. But I digress.

At a couple of his recent shows, Father John used his encores as an opportunity to speak to his audience and answer their questions that than play more music. Speaking candidly, Tillman talks about his father-in-law, fashion trends and even takes dace requests.
