Klinghoffer says he still has a great love for the band

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer has guest-starred on WTF With Marc Maron. In the episode Klinghoffer, discusses his recent departure from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which came as a surprise when he was told his time with the band was over. He also discusses Frusciante’s sudden reunion with the band and feeling like the odd man out.

Guitarist John Frusciante had departed from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and in 2009 Josh Klinghoffer joined the band, replacing Frusciante as the guitarist. Klinghoffer then went on to perform and record with RHCP for 10 years.

Klinghoffer said that the news was a “complete shock but not a surprise,” and explains that, the moment he was told he was out of the band, he felt a “great wave of love for them, and love for everything he was able to do with them.” The pair then go on to discuss Klinghoffer’s past with the band and working with Frusciante on his solo records, including how their relationship changed once he joined the band, his early life, and more.
