Listen: IDLES make their return with rowdy new track ‘Mercedes Marxist’

Bristol punks IDLES have made their return with their first new track of 2019, “Mercedes Marxist.”

The track, which marks their first original release since 2018’s Joy As An Act of Resistance, sees the band going back to their raucus sound, with pounding drum lines, dynamic and distorted guitar riffs, and frontman Joe Talbot’s gritty vocals. The track, like most IDLES tunes, revolves around Talbot’s quirky lyricism as he sings lines like, “Forgive my crippled head” or “They’ve gambled all our pride/ They want money instead.”
