Listen: Interpol share gritty, distorted new track ‘Fine Mess’

A crunchy, gritty new track from the New York City rock band

After the release of Marauder last summer, which was their first album in five years, Interpol have dropped a new track called “Fine Mess” just six months later.

The crunchy, gritty new tune follows frontman Paul Banks as he sings about a strong, yet chaotic chemistry with someone from years ago. On top of the distorted, powerhouse instrumentals, Banks sings the brutally honest hook, “You and me make a fine mess.” Although this lyric is something we’ve likely heard before on other tracks from other bands, Interpol makes it feel new again through Banks’ warped vocals and the band’s purposefully contorted melodies.
