Listen: Jack White Covers Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another’ on Rare ’90s Cassette

He sang with a group called 400 Pounds of Punk

As a part of Cassette Week, Ben Blackwell, Third Man Records co-founder and White Stripes archivist, has just recovered a rare tape of Jack White covering Blondie’s “One Way Or Another.”

According to an essay Blackwell wrote for Discogs, White was a session engineer for a band called 400 Pounds of Punk when they were recording a cassette called He Once Ate a Small Child. The band’s cover of Blondie’s hit track features vocals from Jack White and is included on the album.

It’s “the rarest physical release of a Jack White performance,” writes Blackwell.
