Joel Plaskett will release his album Joel Plaskett & The Park Avenue Sobriety Test on March 17, and the latest single from the upcoming album is an homage to his past.
“On A Dime” begins with a Celtic fiddle riff courtesy of J.P. Cormier, and features the solo acoustic rock sound Plaskett is known for. The happy-go-lucky lyrics rhyme and reminisce about his childhood on the east coast, referencing playing street hockey in a liquor store parking lot. He also sings about starting out as a musician. “‘On a Dime’ is a reminiscence of the ‘good old days’ of the Halifax music scene and the joy of traveling around North America with friends” muses Plaskett. “Misty water coloured memories….” he says.
Plaskett also announced that fellow Halifax singer-songwriter Mo Kenney will accompany him on his Canadian tour, which stops in Toronto on May 22. He will also play the CBCMusic.CA Festival on May 23.
