Joel Plaskett’s New Scotland Records and Sloan’s murderecords are joining forces to co-release Prize For Writing in honour of the late Halifax singer-songwriter, Matthew Grimson. Today, as part of the announcement, they’ve shared a new collaborative track called “Stood Up.”
Grimson, who passed away on June 19th, 2018, was once called “Canada’s most unique songwriter” by Plaskett. The forthcoming 15-track compilation, called Prize for Writing, will be made up of lost recordings that Grimson had recorded on a four-track cassette back in 1995.
These recordings feature contributions from Sloan’s Andrew Scott and Chris Murphy, who covered “Stood Up” for a single in 1995, and Super Friendz’s Matt Murphy.
