Julien Baker has released “Tokyo” and “Sucker Punch” on streaming services for the first time ever. The two tracks first were released in a vinyl collection of singles for Sub Pop last year, but now you can listen to the tunes online.
“Tokyo” is a distorted, yet ambient track, driven by a piano line as Baker’s wailing vocals take the lead. “Sucker Punch,” on the other hand, is more remniscent of Baker’s older tunes, with an acoustic guitar as Baker belts lines like, “Handed you a knife with the handle out/ I could see you throw a sucker punch/ A broken floating rib/ Permanent Scar.”
