Listen: Local Natives share shiny remix of Manchester Orchestra’s ‘Bed Head’

Local Natives are back with another remix of Manchester Orchestra’s recent single “Bed Head”.

The song originally appears on The Million Masks of God, Manchester Orchestra’s sixth studio album that was released this April via Loma Vista.

In a press release, the band’s frontman Andy Hull revealed this about the track: “‘Bed Head’ is two old friends existing in two separate realities. It’s a conversation about the lives they lived, the consequences of life’s decisions, and finding purpose in trying to be better.”

The new mix gives the rock song a new twist with punchy pop rhythms, twinkling synths, and altered echoing vocals. What was once an edgy and anxious track is now upbeat, less brooding and danceable.

Local Natives are not new to the remix game. In 2020 they remixed “Fire & Fury” by Overcoats and have released numerous EPs of their own songs remixed by other artists, including a whole album, Violet Street (Remixes).

These remixes follow their four-track EP Sour Lemon that includes “Lemon” featuring Sharon Van Etten. Before this, in 2019 they shared their fourth studio album, Violet Street.

Meanwhile, Manchester Orchestra have been busy with their new album. Even more recently though, they released a new song called “Never Ending” as a collaboration with DC Comics for the soundtrack for their series, Dark Nights: Death Metal. The indie-rockers also shared an absolutely stunning cover of Neil Young’s iconic tune “Unknown Legend”.

Manchester Orchestra will be embarking on a North American tour that begins in October and expands across early 2022. They will be in Toronto on March 15th 2022 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
