Lucy Dacus has just released a modern rendition of Edith Piaf’s classic tune “La Vie En Rose” for Valentine’s Day as part of a forthcoming holiday series in which Dacus will be dropping holiday related tracks throughout 2019.
The young American singer put a 21st century twist on the 70-year-old classic love song. Dacus first performs the tune in French, and then transfers to English as she croons on top of a fast pace, pulsing instrumental line. “From the first time I heard it, I thought ‘La Vie En Rose’ was a perfect song,” Dacus explained in a press release. “Hearing it, I knew that, one day, I would fall in love. I want someone to listen to this while running at top speed to the doorstep of the person they adore, ready to profess their deep, undying love.”

“This also begins a series of songs I’ll be putting out through 2019,” Dacus wrote on Facebook. “Holidays are tough and I often write music to try to understand them, or listen to music to buoy myself through. Over the past two years, I’ve been recording some holiday related songs that have been collecting dust, until now.”
Some of the tracks will be covers, some will be originals, and some will even be out of character for Dacus. Check out the list of holidays that will deliver us a new Lucy Dacus tune below.
