Toronto transplant Michael Rault released new music last week, old-school cassette style. Both songs, “Nothing Means Nothing” and “Still Not Sad”, have a psychedelic feel to them, paying homage to the Edmonton-born singer’s idols, The Beatles.
The singles serve as Rault’s introduction to Burger Records, and was produced with members of Slim Twig and Fucked Up. The tape, described as a modernized take on classic rock, will tease Living Daylight, Rault’s album that will drop worldwide next year. Rault’s sound brings the past into the present, and mixes R&B jukebox with acid-infused rock, fusing a cool, melodic tone with unique lyrics.
Michael Rault is playing The Drake Underground on December 4.
