Nathaniel Rateliff has shared a new song in celebration of Willie Nelson’s birthday on Wednesday, aptly titled “Willie’s Birthday Song.”
The new track is the latest instalment in The Marigold Singles, which is a series that aims to raise money for Rateliff’s foundation the Marigold Project. The foundation supports “community and non-profit organizations working for economic and social justice.” Proceeds from this track are set to benefit Farm Aid and StrongHearts Native Helpline.
The track, which Rateliff finished on March 12th, features performances from Nelson’s sister Bobbi, harmonica player Mickey Raphael, Matt Pynn, Jonathan Tyler and Night Sweats members Patrick Meese, Mark Shusterman, and Jeff Dazey. Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah also provide background vocals alongside Matthew Logan Vasquez, Nikki Lane, and Courtney Marie Andrews.
