Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is gearing up for the release of their “best of” album Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021) on June 11th via Sour Mash, and today they’ve previewed the collection with the release of “Flying On The Ground.”
The forthcoming collection includes two new tracks, including today’s release and the previously released “We’re On Our Way Now.” “Flying On The Ground” comes packed with dreamy guitar lines and silky doo wop-style background vocals, as Gallagher delivers lines like, “As the years go by, I’ll wipe the tear from your eye/ All we need is love and a place we call home.”
“‘Flying On The Ground’ is literally the best thing I’ve released,” Gallagher explains. “If Burt Bacharach wrote for Motown this is what it would sound like … only not as good … obviously.”

It’s been 10 years since Gallagher started up his post-Oasis band, and in celebration of that, they’ll release the 18-track greatest hits album, which will feature tunes from all three of the band’s records. Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021) will also feature a whole extra disc of acoustic renditions and remixes.
