Listen: Pale Waves reject gender roles on new track ‘You Don’t Own Me’

'Who Am I?' drops on February 12 via Dirty Hit

Pale waves are set to release their new album Who Am I? on February 12th via Dirty Hit, and today they’ve shared a new single “You Don’t Own Me.”

The new track sees frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie rejecting gender roles and the patriarchy, as she sings about the music industry boys’ club. Baron-Gracie says that “You Don’t Own Me” is “a song for women about what it’s like to be a woman in this world.”

“This song is incredibly important to me and I wanted to represent my own experiences,” Baron-Gracie continues. “I also wanted to say a f*ck you to everyone that plays by these fake delusional rules that women and gender need to fit inside a specific box.”
