Listen: Said The Whale release new track ‘First Time Since the First Time,’ announce ‘Cascadia’ deluxe edition

They also dropped a video for 'Gambier Island Green'

Said The Whale have announced they’ll be releasing a deluxe edition of Cascadia, which will feature five additional tracks. As part of the announcement they’ve released a video for the album’s closing track “Gambier Island Green” alongside a new tune called “First Time Since the First Time.”

“This song ended up on the cutting room floor a few years ago and unfortunately we never found a home for it in the context of any of our recent albums, but we’ve always loved this song and wanted to find a way to release it,” the band explains in a statement. “I wrote it a couple years ago, the day after I stupidly broke up with my now-extremely-pregnant fiancé. This song is not as sad to me anymore because I know how the story unfolds, but I love how it captures the mood of a really tender time in my life when everything felt like it was crumbling to pieces – at my own hand.”

The new SJ Findlay-directed video follows band member Ben Worcester and his dog Trout at his family cabin.
