Listen: Sharon Van Etten shares dark, gloomy cover of Daniel Johnston’s ‘Some Things Last A Long Time’

For a documentary about the Pepe The Frog meme

Last year, Sharon Van Etten shared a new track called “Let Go” for the Feels Good Man documentary, which is all about the creator of the Pepe The Frog Meme. Now, Van Etten has unearthed a Daniel Johnston cover that she also recorded for the film.

Van Etten’s cover of Johnston’s “Some Things Last A Long Time” is a dark, gloomy rendition of the track, as she adds eerie, yet melancholic twists and turns to the famous 1990 track.

Van Etten’s droning, crooning vocal lines will give you chills, as she sings lines like, “Your picture is still/ On my wall, on my wall/ The colors are bright/ Bright as ever.”

Listen to Van Etten’s cover of “Some Things Last A Long Time” below.

Van Etten is no stranger to covers, having recently released the tenth anniversary reissue of her album, epic, which saw a whole slew of artists covering songs from the record.
