Listen: Sleater-Kinney unveil rebellious new track ‘ANIMAL’

It's the first new music since 'The Center Won't Hold'

Sleater-Kinney have released “ANIMAL,” the first new song since the release of their St. Vincent-produced record The Center Won’t Hold.

“ANIMAL” still features drummer Janet Weiss, who left the band this year. The new tune revolves around a gritty guitar line and driven drum beat as Corin Tucker’s vocals really stand out. Tucker truly wails on this tune, letting out almost primal screams.

“‘ANIMAL’ is a song about rebellion, retaliation and rage,” Tucker explains in a statement. “It is a song about letting go of all politeness and filters and letting the ‘animal’ side speak. The vocals for this song were recorded in St. Vincent’s home studio, a perfect place to unleash a voice like this.”
