Listen: Sufjan Stevens releases ‘Love Yourself’ and ‘With My Whole Heart’ to celebrate Pride Month

Sales from the forthcoming vinyl release will benefit LGBTQ+ and homeless children

Sufjan Stevens is celebrating the start of Pride Month by releasing “Love Yourself” and “With My Whole Heart.”

The first track, “Love Yourself,” is a slow-building, euphoric tune with lively, empowering instrumentals as Stevens sings intimate lines like, “Love, can you love yourself/ Show me everything, every reason to believe in yourself.” The second tune, “With My Whole Heart,” will tug you forward through the entirety of the song through its unique, powerful, and slightly groovy instrumentals. In a press release, Stevens explains that he wanted to “write an upbeat and sincere love song without conflict, anxiety or self-deprecation.”

A limited edition vinyl release of the tracks will be available on June 28th, and a portion of the sales will go toward the Ali Forney Center in Harlem and the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, both of which offer support for LGBTQ+ and homeless children.
