Smith recently teamed up with the Scottish electro-pop trio for the track, which appears on their forthcoming album Screen Violence. The original tune saw CHVRCHES taking on a darker sound while staying true to frontwoman Lauren Mayberry’s bubbly voice.
Smith’s new remix of the tune sees him taking the single and drawing it out. On the new version of the tune, Mayberry’s vocals echo over and over, creating an atmospheric energy. Eventually, Smith takes over and sings lines like, “They were out for blood/ And they would have your guts.”

The forthcoming album not only marks their fourth full-length, but it actually serves as a celebration of 10 years of the band. “I think for me it was helpful to go into the process with the idea that I could write something escapist almost,” Mayberry explains of the album. “That felt freeing initially, to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through but in the end, all the lyrics were definitely still personal.”
“To me, the screen aspect was a bit more literal,” Martin Doherty adds of the record. “When we were making the record, it was like half of our lives were lived through screens. What began as a concept was not a lifeline.”
