Listen: The Hold Steady releases ‘Denver Haircut,’ announces first new album in five years

'Thrashing Thru The Passion' is the band's first album in five years!

After a five year wait, The Hold Steady are finally releasing a new album called Thrashing Thru the Passion! The band has also released a new song called “Denver Haircut,” which is also the first song on the record.

“‘Denver Haircut’ is a story about a guy who has chance meet up that takes him to a few different locations before leaving him alone and cashless in a strange hotel room,” frontman Craig Finn explains in a statement. “Steve Selvidge (guitarist) brought in the music to this song and everyone felt it immediately, it was really fun to play. The story unfolded quickly too. When recording, we remarked that it sounded like it could kick off an album…and so here we are.”
