Listen: The Hold Steady Share Two New Songs

'Eureka' and 'Esther' arrived Monday

The Hold Steady rolled out two new songs Monday, with “Eureka” and “Esther” arriving on the band’s Bandcamp page. Both songs are expected to hit streaming and download services at a later date.

The songs were recorded at the same time as a pair of singles, “Entitlement Crew” and “A Snake In The Shower,” that were released last year. Check out the new songs below.

Proceeds from sales of the songs will benefit the family of “Jersey” Mike Van Jura, who ran the Hold Steady’s fan group, the Unified Scene. Van Jura died in 2012 at age 36.

“If you choose to download these two songs, a donation will be made to benefit the K+L Guardian Foundation,” the band said in a statement. “ALL monies received from downloads will be transferred to the K+L Guardian Foundation.

“The K+L Guardian Foundation was formed to benefit “Jersey” Mike Van Jura’s children after he suddenly passed away in November 2012 at only 36 years of age. Jersey Mike was the unofficial leader of The Unified Scene.”
