London-based outfit The Vaccines have returned with a catchy upbeat pop tune just in time for the summer. “Headphones Baby” is their first release in three years since their 2018 album Combat Sports.
Frontman Justin Young says the track is about “cocooning yourself from the outside world.” The lively track explores the theme of escapism and the feelings of normal life pre-pandemic.
Young continues, “‘Headphones Baby’ is about wanting to feel those things [we felt before] and that’s why I think it’s so bombastic – because we want it to feel like a road trip or an acid trip or an explosion of colour.”
