Listen: Tokyo Police Club Announce ‘TPC’, Share Song ‘Hercules’

Band also announces fall tour dates

Newmarket foursome Tokyo Police Club are coming back in full swing!

The band announced plans for their fifth studio album, the sort-of self-titled album TPC, due out October 5th via DIne Alone Records. Along with the announcement, Tokyo Police Club shared a new single, “Hercules.” TPC follows their last full-length Forcefield in 2014, and the recent EP Melon Collie And The Infinite Radness in 2017.

“Hercules” demonstrates the groups pop sensibilities and abilities to write effective hooks. The band are taking a slightly different approach to songwriting this time around, according to keyboardist Graham Wright.

“I think for a long time I had this dumb idea that ‘making art’ had to be serious or difficult, that I had to really struggle with it for it to count, whatever that even means,” keyboardist Graham Wright told Billboard. “The idea that not only could I have fun and make good music, but that having fun made the music better was like finding out that Santa’s real.”
