Listen: Toronto artist Amai Kuda et Les Bois shares stunning new track ‘Ecouché’

'EmUrgency!' is set for release on May 20

Toronto artist and community organizer Amai Kuda et Les Bois has shared a stunning new single, “Ecouché,” which comes from their forthcoming full-length album, EmUrgency!

The new track is channeled and sung in a language of ancestral communication, meaning that the song can never be performed the same way twice. Serving as a perfect preview to the album, “Ecouchè” is full of captivating instrumentals and compelling vocal lines, serving as a “spell for the healing of the waters.”

“The album is about my journey as a woman of African descent to overcome internalized sexism, racism and the negative stigmatization of African spiritual beliefs in order to come into my power as an artist, commmunity-leader and particularly as a traditional healer,” Kuda explains. “Similar to other ‘coming out’ processes this emergence process is filled with a sense of urgency as it is in fact a matter of survival.”
