Listen: Tweedy’s family affair “Diamond Light Part 1”

Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy has partnered up with his 18 year old son Spencer in a family project they’re calling Tweedy. So far, they’ve released singles “I’ll Sing It,” “Summer Noon,” and “Wait For Love”. In teasing Tweedy’s new album titled Sukierae (pronounced “sue-key-ray”), the father-son duo have released side 1 of their special 10” Diamond Lights single.

Although Spencer wasn’t always in the solo album plan, we’re glad it’s happening.

“When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing,” Tweedy said in a press release. “Solo to me meant that I would do everything — write the songs, play all the instruments and sing. But Spencer’s been with me from the very beginning demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape. In that sense, the record is kind of like a solo album performed by a duo.”

Sukierae will be out on September 16 via dBpm Records. A limited edition “Diamond Light” 10-inch vinyl is available for purchase here, and “Diamond Light Pt. 1″ will be available as a free download this Monday for those who preorder Sukierae.
