Lizzo denies ‘Truth Hurts’ plagiarism claims, credits ‘DNA Test’ Tweeter

She credited the creator of the original tweet the line was based off of

Lizzo has responded to producers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen’s plagiarism claims.

The Raisens claimed that Lizzo improperly used the “melody, lyrics, and chords” of a demo they worked on before the release of “Truth Hurts,” ultimately claiming that she stole the line “I just took a DNA test turns out I’m 100% that bitch.”

“The men who claim a piece of ‘Truth Hurts’ did not help me write any part of the song,” Lizzo wrote on Twitter. “They had nothing to do with the line or how I chose to sing it. There was no one in the room when I wrote ‘Truth Hurts,’ except me, Ricky Reed, and my tears. That song is my life, and its words are my truth.” Lizzo did reveal that she has added Mina Lioness, the creator of the original tweet the line was based off of, as a cowriter on the track.
