Lorde took to Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she went “Day Drinking” during the return of his entertaining segment.
“Day Drinking” is essentially Meyers’ excuse to just get absolutely plastered with a celebrity. In this episode, Lorde and Meyers head to New York City’s Zero Bond, drinking a slew of Solar Power-themed cocktails. The show quickly downward spiralled into some hilarious drinking games.
In one drinking game, Lorde and Meyers had to identify certain royals, or take a shot of Crown Royal. In another one, Meyers had to recite Lorde’s real name in full or take a shot. Lorde and Meyers also had to paint the artwork to Melodrama. By the end it was pretty clear that the pair were quite tipsy. “I’m drunk,” Lorde says.

Just yesterday (July 21st), Lorde shared her warm new single, “Stoned At The Nail Salon.” Co-written and co-produced by Jack Antonoff, the warm, emotive new single revolves around a smooth guitar line. The minimal instrumental riff allows Lorde’s captivating, vulnerable vocals to truly shine. Throughout the tune, Lorde weaves in and out of raspy solo vocals and layered choral moments. Lorde sings lines like, “And all the times, they will change, it’ll all come around/ I don’t know/ Maybe I’m just stoned at the nail salon.”
“The song is sort of a rumination on getting older, settling into domesticity, and questioning if you’ve made the right decisions,” Lorde explains. “I think lots of people start asking those questions of themselves around my age, and it was super comforting to me writing them down, hoping they’d resonate with others too. I used this song as a dumping ground for so many thoughts…”
“Stoned At The Nail Salon” serves as the follow-up to her forthcoming album’s title track. Solar Power is out on August 20th via Universal.
