Lorde and Antonoff take to the roof of the famous studio in the middle of a storm. Wind whips around the Electric Lady Studios, as Lorde and Antonoff deliver a stripped back rendition of “Solar Power.” The striking rendition revolves around Lorde’s vocal lines and Antonoff’s dreamy electric guitar riffs.
Before launching into the performance, Antonoff asks:
“Are we supposed to be up here with lightning?”

They also appeared to return to the Electric Lady Studios on a sunnier day for a brighter (safer) performance of the tune.
Check that one out below.
The track comes from Lorde’s forthcoming album, Solar Power, out on August 20th via Universal.
The upcoming album will be all about summer energy and the spirit of nature. In a statement, she says that it’s “a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors.”
Lorde also recently performed “Solar Power” on a roof on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The performance marked the live debut of the summery tune. Throughout the video, the New Zealand pop star sang from the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theater. Backed by an seven-piece band, Lorde sang surrounded by bubbles. Decked out in a stunning yellow outfit, Lorde performed in front of the New York City skyline.
