Lorde has shared a new medley of Britney Spears’ “Break the Ice” and her Solar Power track “Fallen Fruit.” The video was directed by Alfred Marroquín for Vogue.
The clip sees the 24-year-old Lorde making a statement on pop stardom. While weaving in and out of the 2007 hit “Break the Ice,” Lorde would subtly clap back at being in the public eye. After dancing to the Spears hit, Lorde grew still, singing lines like, “To the ones that came before us. / All the golden ones who were lifted on a wing, / We had no idea the dreams we had were far too big / Far too big.”
The new medley seems like not only a commentary on pop stars, but it’s also a celebration. Just yesterday, Jamie Spears asked the court to end Britney Spears’ very public conservatorship. This adds a different tone when Lorde sings, “And we will walk together.”

The stripped down performance took place at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx.
Back in July, Lorde also took part in the Vogue segment 73 Questions. The interview sees Lorde answering a whole slew of questions related to her new album Solar Power, her past releases, and more. In the interview, she says that Arcade Fire’s 2014 headlining Coachella set was the best concert she ever went to. She also said that the artist she most wants to collaborate with is Harry Styles.
In 73 Questions, Lorde answers these rapid fire questions at the New York Botanical Garden. Walking through the greenery, Lorde says that Taylor Swift is the first musician to leave her starstruck. She later talks about songs she wishes she had written, the first song that made her cry, and more.
