Lorde has shared two new singles, “Hold No Grudge” and “Helen of Troy.” These songs are bonus tracks, and come as part of the deluxe edition of Solar Power.
“These songs were fun explorations on the album journey,” Lorde explains. “They didn’t quite fit into the tracklist for whatever reason but they’re both big tunes.”
“Hold No Grudge” is a much more upbeat track than most of the other songs on “Solar Power.” “HNG is a sort of composite portrait of when relationships turn sour, being trapped in the ice but remembering the warmth.”

“Helen of Troy,” on the other hand, blends in to the rest of Solar Power pretty perfectly. The track comes packed with soft guitars and stunning layers of harmonies. Lorde says that the track is “just me talking trash to make Jack [Antonoff] laugh.”
“We wrote it super quickly in the tiniest room at Westlake where we did a bunch of Melo and it was fun the whole time. It’s super off the cuff lyrically, almost ad-libbed, and you can hear me starting to figure out some album themes…”

Lorde’s most recent album, Solar Power, sees her singing of sun salutations and meditations. The album serves as the follow-up to 2017’s Melodrama. Produced by Jack Antonoff, the new record sees Lorde singing of young adulthood and fame. Moving from the gloomy, melancholic sounds of her previous releases, Lorde is ready to embrace the sun.
In September, Lorde surprise released a companion EP to the album, sung in the Māori language. Proceeds from the EP went toward New Zealand charities Forest and Bird and the Te Hua Kawariki Charitable Trust.
