About Solar Power
Lorde is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming album, Solar Power, out on August 20th via Universal.
Most recently, Lorde dropped the Jack Antonoff co-produced track, “Stoned At The Nail Salon.” The emotive single revolves around a smooth guitar line. The minimal instrumental riff allows Lorde’s captivating, vulnerable vocals to truly shine. Throughout the tune, Lorde weaves in and out of raspy solo vocals and layered choral moments. Lorde sings lines like, “And all the times, they will change, it’ll all come around/ I don’t know/ Maybe I’m just stoned at the nail salon.”
“The song is sort of a rumination on getting older, settling into domesticity, and questioning if you’ve made the right decisions,” Lorde explains. “I think lots of people start asking those questions of themselves around my age, and it was super comforting to me writing them down, hoping they’d resonate with others too. I used this song as a dumping ground for so many thoughts…”
Solar Power will also feature the previously released title track.
