Seventeen year old alt pop star Lorde will be curating the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1.
Her contributions in the film’s most recent installment with REM’s “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” served her well as a platform to contribute even more. Not only will she be curating the tracks, Lorde will also be recording her own single. When asked about the project, she stated:
“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
The film will hit theatres on November 21, while the soundtrack will make an appearance around the fall of this year.
No word yet on other artists who will be contributing to the soundtrack. Artists that have appeared on the franchises’ soundtracks include The National, Sia, Coldplay, the Weeknd, Diplo, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, and the Decemberists.
Good luck to all the artists trying to make the cut, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
