You have your favourite snack, you’re sitting on your favourite chair, watching your favourite TV show. A pivotal moment in the episode is upon you and the music they’ve chosen enhances it, and it’s perfect. It makes you feel the emotion in the scene (even if you’re trying to hide it). These may not be the BEST music moments in TV but they’re ones that have stayed with me ever since they aired.

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 16 “Felina”
Artist: Badfinger Song: Baby Blue
What a perfect way to wrap up one of the best television series ever. Not only does this song sum up the episode, but it sums up the entire show.
Beverly Hills 90210 Season 2 Episode 1 “Beach Blanket Brandon”
Artist: REM Song: Losing My Religion
Embarrassing I know. But every time I hear this song I remember experiencing heart break in the third person while watching Brenda and Dylan break up in his car after a pregnancy scare. It was deep.
American Horror Story: Asylum Season 2 Episode 10 “The Name Game”
Artist: Jessica Lange Song: The Name Game
I already had a mad girl-crush on Ms. Lange before this episode. She’s simply spectacular. This scene was brilliant, it took creepy to the next level but in such a happy way! I can’t count how many times I’ve re-watched it since.
Friends Season 2&10 Episodes: “The One With The List” & “The Last One”
Artists: U2 & Pearl Jam Songs: “With or Without You” & “Yellow Ledbetter”
Two examples of great music moments on TV and they both revolve around Ross and Rachel (naturally!) When Ross dedicates “With or Without You” to Rachel on the radio, it just fit. Summed up their back and forth relationship. Then on the series finale when Pearl Jam’s “Yellow Ledbetter” played as Rachel boarded the plane to Paris… chilling! Plus it was the first PJ song to be licensed for a TV show which is a moment in itself.
The Cosby Show Season 2 Episode 3 “Happy Anniversary”
Artist: The Family (Ray Charles) Song: Night Time is the Right Time
I always wished my family would spontaneously burst into song and have the clothes to match the theme so wonderfully. Sadly, we’re far from musical. So the Cosby’s filled the void. This is one of many magical music moments from the show as they celebrate Russell and Anna Huxtable’s anniversary.
