Los Angeles-based indie trio lovelytheband recently stopped by Indie88 to perform “Broken” and “These Are My Friends” during their Collective Arts Black Box Session.
lovelytheband has been making waves on the music scene since the release of their debut single “Broken” in 2017, which topped the Billboard Rock Airplay chart and remained there for nine consecutive weeks. “Broken” sees band member Mitchy Collins opening up about his mental health struggles as he sings about the shared experience of loneliness. “The making of the album was a big therapy session,” Collins explained to Billboard.
Mitchy Collins, Jordan Greenwald, and Sam Price make up the indie pop outfit, and together they’ve toured with artists like The Wrecks, La Bouquet, and 5 Seconds of Summer. In 2017 they released their debut EP, Everything I Could Never Say…, and following that, they dropped their anthemic hit single, “These Are My Friends.” Now, they’ve got their debut album, finding it hard to smile, available everywhere, which is packed with upbeat, relatable indie pop bangers. You can catch these energetic tunes during lovelytheband’s show at the Mod Club Theatre on May 2nd, 2019.
