As portions of the TTC subway system are closed for maintenance, Lyft (an app similar to Uber) is offering rides to and from any Line 1 Subway station for a $3.25 flat rate, matching TTC fare exactly, during this coming weekend.
The popular ride-sharing company is based in the U.S, and was launched in Toronto less than two months ago. The inspiration for the campaign came after the discovery that Toronto’s Public Transit system would be closed every other weekend in February. According to the TTC, there will be a total of 43 scheduled subway closures over the course of 2018.
Through February 3rd and 26th, you can take a Lyft every Saturday from 6 a.m. until Sunday at 1:30 a.m, and then Sunday at 8 a.m. until Monday at 1:30 a.m. Enter promo code: TOTRANSITFEB18 into the Lyft app to get 10 free rides for $3.25 each – available when planned closures are in effect.
