Mac DeMarco dances in an inflatable Christmas tree costume in video for ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ cover

Mac DeMarco is back with another holiday cover, and this time it’s a rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

The cover comes as the latest installment in the beloved indie goofball’s annual Christmas song series. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was originally written by Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent. It was first released by Bing Crosby in 1943, and has been covered many times since. DeMarco has thrown his own hat in the ring with this dreamy indie rendition.

The accompanying video sees DeMarco in an inflatable tree costume as he dances around. He seems to be on the hunt for his very own home this Christmas, as he bops along to the cover. “I hope your holiday season is full of love and tree,” DeMarco wrote.

Last year, Mac DeMarco shared a festive video for a cover of Judy Garland’s holiday staple, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” DeMarco adds his quintessential laidback twist to the wistful tune. He takes the famous lyrics and layering them over a hazy instrumental line.

Just like in the “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” clip, the accompanying video for “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is pretty lo-fi. DeMarco dances on the edge of a mountain next to a giant inflatable Santa Claus. Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan also makes a cameo in the clip at 1:20, in the form of a photograph.
