Filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos have confirmed that the Netflix series Making a Murderer will be back with more gritty details in the near future.
The popular Netflix series attracted much attention after its 10-part release, which left many viewers wondering if Steven Avery was truly innocent or guilty. It also left some unanswered questions and skepticism among some.
Ricciardi told Variety at the Stranger Than Fiction panel in New York, “From our perspective this story is obviously not over. It’s real life and (Avery’s and Brendan Dassey’s) cases are both still pending.”
“We have no idea when the magistrate will make a decision in Brendan’s case. We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan’s release or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that. “
Ricciardi confirmed, “To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this (case).”
The excitement doesn’t end there. It looks like a blockbuster movie of the Netflix docu-series could be in the works, with Billy Bob Thornton as a top potential Steven Avery. Joining him in the top spot is Danny McBride, as another early favourite.
