The “ultimate natural high” is a wheelchair and stroller friendly, fully accessible 600 metre tree walk through a beautiful arbutus forest. Located in Victoria, B.C., the walk leads to a spectacular gentle spiral ramp. From there, you walk up to a sightseeing lookout point.

What Is The Malahat Skywalk & When Was It Built?

The Malahat Skywalk is called a “tree walk”, which basically means it’s a platform built for walking in the trees. Because of this, you can enjoy nature in its most majestic form. The views from the lookout are absolutely stunning, and will give you an idea of just how glorious the Canadian landscape can be.

The skywalk, which overlooks the Salish Sea, opened in July, 2021. The $17 million project began construction in January of 2020, and is located on the traditional lands of the Malahat Nation.

How To Get To Malahat Skywalk

The Malahat Skywalk is easy to get to, and is a perfect spot to visit if you’re in Victoria, B.C. It’s only a half an hour drive from Victoria, and is located in Malahat, just outside of Bamberton.

How Tall Is The Skywalk?

The Malahat Skywalk is a 600 metre long elevated boardwalk that sits 250 metres above sea level. The platform itself is 32 metres high, and allows you to see some of the most sweeping views of B.C. you’ve ever seen!

Is It A Strenuous Hike?

The hike that’s close to the skywalk is considered easy in hiking terms. The trail itself is just 0.8 miles, and takes an average of 20 minutes to complete. It’s a popular trail for walking, but if you go during the day, it’s usually quiet.

Do I Need Tickets In Advance?

If you’re going to the Malahat Skywalk, you’ll want to arrive early. And let’s be honest, it’s so beautiful you’ll probably want to stay late. You can get a family rate for $95 at the time of writing this article.

The ticket covers your entire experience, from the tree walk to the spiral tower, and even the Malahat Slide which is a super fun part of the experience.

You can buy your tickets in advance, or you can get them when you arrive. Keep in mind, however, that purchasing in advance is always a good idea to skip lines and feel like you’re prepared going in.

Is The Malahat Skywalk Open All Year Long?

You can enjoy the skywalk all year long! They do an excellent job of up-keeping the grounds during the winter. The summer, of course, is stunning and natural and one of the best ways to enjoy nature in the area.
