Margaret Atwood is writing a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale called The Testaments.
The sequel will pick up the iconic story 15 years after Offred walked into the unknown, and it will consist of several testaments from three female narrators in Gilead. “Everything you’ve ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book,” Atwood explains in a statement. “Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we’ve been living in.”
The book is set for release in September 2019, and is already available for pre-order.
