Marvin Gaye’s Family Thinks Pharrell Ripped Off “Happy” Too

After successfully suing Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams for 7.3 million dollars over their 2013 hit “Blurred Lines”, Marvin Gaye’s family is still unsatisfied.

The Gaye family continued the fight against Pharrell with rumblings of yet another lawsuit, this time over similarities between Williams’ 2014 hit “Happy” and Gaye’s 1965’s “Aint That Peculiar”. Marvin Gaye’s widow Janis told Entertainment Tonight, “we’re just in the moment today and we’re satisfied… I heard the mash-ups — but I didn’t really need to hear them. I know ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’ and I’ve heard ‘Happy.'” It has yet to be determined whether or not these surface similarities warrant another lawsuit, but after this week’s results, Pharrell is probably sleeping with one eye open.
