Massey Hall to officially reopen in November

After closing for an extensive revitalization for over three years, Massey Hall has officially announced its return to the city this November.

In celebration of its 127th birthday, Massey Hall will reopen its iconic red doors. Today, the venue has announced its first listing of artists who will perform in the Allan Slaight Auditorium, starting in November 2021 ranging all the way to late 2022.

“Three years ago today, Massey Hall was filled with artists and fans as we counted down the days before we closed for renovation,” Massey Hall President and CEO Jesse Kumagai explains. “No one could have predicted the challenges we would all face in the ensuing years. There isn’t enough that can be said about those who have helped us reach this point. From each and every order of government to the incredible vision of Allied Properties and The Slaight Family Foundation, our supporters and all the people pouring their hearts and souls into your beloved hall are the reason today’s announcement is possible.”

Canadian legend Gordon Lightfoot, who was the last artist to perform at Massey Hall on July 1st, 2018, will return to the stage for three consecutive shows on November 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2021. Other artists that will be hitting the stage this year include Buffy Sainte-Marie with special guests The Sadies, City and Colour, and Broken Social Scene.

Throughout 2022, we’ll see renowned acts like Leif Vollebekk, The Glorious Sons, Mavis Staples, Sarah Harmer, Tanya Tagaq, Serena Ryder, and more hit the stage.

You can check out a complete list of performances booked at Massey Hall here, and tickets for all shows will be on-sale to the public on Monday, June 21st at 12:00 p.m. via phone (416-872-4255) or online (masseyhall.com).
