Matt and Kim drummer Kim Schifino has revealed that indie-pop duo will be continuing with their “Grand 10th Anniversary Tour” despite tearing her ACL.
Last weekend, Matt and Kim performed at Omaha’s Maha Music Festival, where Schifino tore her ACL. Schifino persevered to finish the band’s performance, but eventually had to be carried off stage. Despite the injury, the band will continue with their previously announced “Grand 10th Anniversary Tour,” but they’ve been forced to cancel their performance at New Jersey’s Sea.Hear.Now. Festival in September because “her doctor feels it’s too soon and dangerous for her recovery,” according to the band’s Matt Johnson.
“Kim’s the most badass person I know and a true performer,” Johnson wrote on social media. “And in the saying ‘the show must go on’ she has gone directly into physical therapy and her doctor says with intensive work she will be ready to go for the GRAND anniversary tour this fall.”
