Melbourne punk rockers Camp Cope compete for someone’s attention on new single ‘Jealous’

Melbourne punk rockers Camp Cope have shared their second new song of 2022, “Jealous.”

The track comes from their upcoming third album, Running With The Hurricane, out this Friday, March 25th via Run For Cover. “Jealous” is a folkier track, with strummed guitar lines and strong vocals. The tune is all about pining for an unrequited love and competing for someone’s attention.

Lyrically, frontwoman Georgia Maq delivers lines like, “I’m so jealous/ I want your attention/ Still double texting/ Like I’ve got nothing left to lose/ I’ll take your scraps as if they’re food.”

Listen to “Jealous” below.

Running with the Hurricane is named after a song from Australian folk outfit Redgum. Frontwoman Georgia Maq’s father was a member of the band.

“The first record was us diving into whatever Camp Cope created, the second album was us when we were in the thick of it, and then this album is about how we’ve come out the other side,” Maq explains. “And we’ve come out stronger, more loving, more peaceful and better friends.”

In addition to “Jealous,” Running With The Hurricane features the previously released title track and “Blue.”

Where “Blue” was Camp Cope’s softest tune yet, with soaring vocals and melodic guitars, “Running With The Hurricane” is more of a cathartic anthem. The latter track revolves around the idea that “the only way is up.” With soaring harmonies and gritty guitars, you’ll find yourself revisiting the track again and again.
