That’s right, your favorite craft beer company is becoming a little less…craft.
Since opening their doors in 2002 in the Distillery District, Mill Street Brewery has been warming the souls of Toronto beer consumers for years with their staple Mill Street Organic Lager and many other craft beer combinations. Growing from a small, independent brewery over the past 13 years to today has led them to gain the attention of one of the world’s largest beer companies.
Labatt, which is a subsidiary of the Belgian-based Anheuser-Busch InBev Corporation has just purchased Mill St. Brewery for an undisclosed amount of money according to the Canadian Press. Though the company claims that Mill St. will continue to run independently as a stand alone company
The brewery’s co-founder Steve Abrams says the company will operate the same, but the takeover will help mainly with keeping up with higher demand and distribution. “This immediate infusion of capital will assist us in getting tanks and more equipment.”
