‘Minari,’ ‘Nomadland,’ ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,’ more bring home Academy Awards at the 2021 Oscars

The 2021 Academy Awards ceremony took place last night

Last night (April 26th) marked the 2021 Academy Awards ceremony.

The event saw Nomadland sweeping with a slew of awards, with Chloé Zhao winning the Oscar for Best Director, and the film bringing home Best Picture, with Frances McDormand winning Best Actress. While it was widely suspected that the late Chadwick Boseman would bring home Best Actor for his final role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Anthony Hopkins ended up getting the award for his role in The Father.

Additionally, Daniel Kaluuya took home Best Supporting Actor for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah, and Yuh-Jung Youn became the first Korean to ever win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress with her role in Minari.
