MONOWHALES’ new single ‘New Threads’ is all about ‘reaching a new level of maturity’

Toronto’s MONOWHALES have shared a video for their new single, “New Threads.”

The track comes from their forthcoming album, Tunnel Vision, produced by Dave Schiffman (Vampire Weekend, PUP). “New Threads” is quintessential MONOWHALES, as they hone in on their hook-laden, anthemic rock sound. Lyrically, the track is all about reaching new levels of self-awareness as an adult. The accompanying video really channels that theme, with picturesque shots of adults going about their day.

“‘New Threads’ gives me the feeling of growing up – not like a child becoming an adult, but as an adult reaching a new level of maturity and knowledge of self,” MONOWHALES drummer Jordan Circosta explains. “When I was young, I saw adulthood as the feeling of being ‘finished’ or ‘complete.’ It’s somehow both freeing and disappointing to reach a certain age and realize that you’re never done learning, and the best you can do is try to develop a relationship with your demons and make the most of what you’ve built so far. Part of that growth is finding good friends to share in that journey with you, so the hard times aren’t quite so hard, and you have someone to share the good things with.”
