Morrissey on Cancer: “If I die, then I die”

Indie rock legend reveals fight against cancer

Morrissey has revealed he is battling with cancer – the latest in an unfortunate string of ailments he has suffered over the last year and a half.

Since early 2013, the British rock icon has been hospitalized for a series of illnesses including a bleeding ulcer, pneumonia, and a respiratory infection – despite being only 55 years old. But he’s surprisingly blasé about the situation. “If I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t,” he told Spanish newspaper El Mundo. “I’ll rest when I’m dead.”

Against doctors’ suggestions, Morrissey has continued to tour in support of his latest solo effort, World Peace Is None of Your Business, which was released in July. He also published an autobiography last year, and is currently working on his first novel.
