Australia’s Cut Copy are a band I’ve been following since their 2001 record Bright Like Neon Love. That album started a decade-long love affair that has culminated with this year’s brilliant Free Your Mind. Cut Copy makes dance music that flirts with Pop and Indie rock which makes them a great starting point get into any of those genres. All four albums are melodic, catchy and danceable, making them a perfect soundtrack for your late weekend nights. The sound of the latest album takes me back to the early 90’s when songs like “Mr. Vain” and “Rhythm of The Night” dominated the airwaves. It is the sound of waiting on a mall bench for your high-school girlfriend to finish shopping at Le Chateau while catching yourself tapping your foot to the high volume dance pop lurching out of the speakers. I mean that as high praise.

I will be unleashing my inner 15 year old as they take the stage tonight at the Danforth Music Hall, you should do the same.
