Netflix has shared the first official teaser for Tim Burton’s forthcoming television series, Wednesday.
The clip offers up the first glimpse of Jenna Ortega as the dreary Addams family daughter. Kicking off Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streaming giant offered up a taste of Tim Burton’s take on the beloved character. The video opens with a silhouette of Ortega, before eventually giving us a head-on view. Ortega’s version of the beloved gloomy character dons the signature pigtails, white colour, and black dress. In the teaser, Ortega is joined by the character’s best friend, a severed hand, which is perched on her shoulder.
“The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy,” the official plot description explains. “Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
