Neutral Milk Hotel Play First Show in 15 Years

Legendary Indie Band Neutral Milk Hotel Start Tour

Last night, in Baltimore Neutral Milk Hotel played their first North American show in 15 years. For fans of the band (and indie music fans everywhere) the concert is a historical event that most believed would never happen.

NMH remain one the most revered Indie bands to have ever existed. Their legend reached almost mythic proportions when front-man Jeff Mangum suddenly dismantling the band at the exact moment they could potentially take their career to the next level. Mangum called it quits in 1999 immediately before being secured as REM’s opening act for a show in both band’s home state – Georgia. This was seen by many as their big break. But Mangum backed out and instead travelled to Bulgaria to experiment with the Balkan folk sounds through a series of ambient field recordings. Yes, you read that correctly.

15 years later the full line-up is back and touring aggressively across North America.
